MWC Holds end of the year banquet Sunday afternoon

We held our MWC end of the year banquet Sunday afternoon.

Great Food by the moms & Barbeque Pig and Chicken by Jeff Armstrong.

First we recognized all our wrestlers for all there hard work.

Acknowledging our 6 state alternates: Jake Adams, Josh Garvens, Jake Garvens, Nick Armstrong, Michael Dudek and Blake Berry.

Our 17 state qualifiers, with 8 place winners:

Haiden Baxa, Dagan Lance, Luke Garvens, Ben Stein, Michael Josephson, Alex Larson, Andre’ Lirette, Jake Mariani and Alex Timmers.

State Placewinners: 6^th Aaron Schulist, 5^th Amos Weide, 3^rd Nicholas Beilfuss and Autumn King, 2nd place Lucas Benn. Hailey Porter and CJ Olson

Greco/Freestyle Practice

Starting Tuesday March 27th we will begin practice for Freestyle/greco

Need to be born in 2003 or older to attend.

as always It will start at 6pm and go until 7:30pm

This is an opportunity to wrestle our olympic styles.

This is wrestling with a different point system, you already know how to wrestle….

Tyler Goebel wins State Title

What a weekend !!, The Mukwonago Wrestling Club took 17 qualifiers to the Wisconsin state Folkstyle wrestling championships and finished with 8 wrestlers earning top 6 finishes.

Tyler Goebel wresting at 66lbs the (03/04 age division) won all 4 matches including an overtime 7-5 victory in the semifinals. He started the day with a 12-1 victory, and followed it up with a pin in 43 seconds. In the championship match dominated his opponent with a 7-0 victory.

The Mukwonago Club also had three second place finishers; Lucas Benn @ 60lbs (01/02 age division) and Carter Olson @130lbs (99/00 age division) both reached the finals with 3 initial victories, each battled hard but both were on the short end of a 4-2 score. Hailey Porter @90lbs (03-04 girls’ div) also finished in second place, with 2 pins but dropped the championship 4-1.

Autumn King in the 1999-2001 girl’s div at 105lbs finished 3^rd in the state, she started with 2 quick pins, but lost her semifinals match to the eventual champion, she then completed the day with anther pin and a 11-3 victory for 3^rd place. Nick Belifuss @210lbs also finished 3^rd in the state, advancing to the semifinals, he was pinned by the eventual champion, but roared back with 2 pins to finish in 3^rd with only one loss.

Amos Weide@ 80lbs (03/04 age division) finished the day in 5^th place; he started the day with 2 victories to reach the semifinals, but could not harness that victory to get into the finals, after dropping a triple overtime match, finished the day with an 11-0 victory.

Aaron Schulist 82lbs (99/00 age division) dropped his opening match to the eventual champion, he worked his way back to the podium with 3 straight victories and finished in 6^th place.

The nine other wrestlers who competed in the tournament but were unable to achieve enough victories to get in the top 6 places were; Haiden Baxa 72lbs (03/04 age div), Michael Josephson @100lbs (01/02 age div), Luke Garvens 63lbs (01/02 age div), Dagan Lance @81lbs (01/02 age div), Alex Larson 87lbs(01/02 age div), Benjamin Stein 95lbs (01/02 age div), Jake Mariani @70lbs (99/00 age div) Andre’ Lirette @130lbs (97/98 age div) and Alex Timmers @ 145lbs(99/00 age div).

Overall all 17 club members battled with everything they had and we are proud of everyone’s accomplishments in the club this year.
